Last winter, I spent countless days walking around this pond, soaking in the low sun and long shadows. It was a perfect season for skating—cold and clear, with little snow. Having grown up skating on ponds, I love to see the ice filled with hockey players and skaters practicing their moves. People walking their dogs around the pond always made me think of my own dog, Rosie, who used to trot happily beside me on frozen days like those.
