My artwork has been installed in the lobby of Lahey hospital in Burlington as the centerpiece of an impressive new Healing Arts program. I created Bridges to Healing to describe the transformational journey of illness, healing and recovery. The four bridges are depicted in different seasons to reflect the cyclical nature of health. Taken together, they symbolize the path to spiritual and physical wholeness. The large square pieces (3.5 feet by 3.5 feet) are made with hundreds of get-well and other greeting cards, imbuing the art with the love and prayers that support us during life transitions.

Bridges to Healing was a project that took a year from conception to installation. Beth Israel Lahey has installed an impressive art collection throughout the hospital in response to a patient’s request for an environment that would uplift patients as they received the outstanding health care provided at the medical center. As someone who has spent so much time in hospitals, I am proud to be part this initiative to bring art to health care settings.
